On January 28th 2016, in the presence of Nicola Zingaretti, president of Lazio Region, the stretch of the first round of the project of the regional road 578 Rieti-Torano was inaugurated and opened to the traffic. Ingegneri Riuniti is the leader of the Temporary Business Association which created the design and led the management of operations. It is a "secondary suburban street", and specifically a segment of about 3.1 km of the still missing section of the Rieti-Torano freeway, which is necessary to overcome the towns of Grotti and Villa Grotti, in the territory of the municipalities of Rieti and Cittaducale.
Many works were created: artificial tunnels, viaducts with steel decking, containment works with palisades and hydraulic works required for the shifting of the riverbed of the river Salto. Among the most important problems solved: the interference with the existing ACEA water network, which has been overcome with the realization of a bridge with steel decking.
