Ongoing seismic improvement works at the school Ipssca "Deledda" (Modena)We are carrying out the seismic improvement works at the historical premises of the Professional Institute for Social Services "G. Deledda" in via Ganaceto 143, in Modena, damaged after the earthquake in 2012. Dating back to 1911 and being partially rebuilt in 1946-47 after the war bombing, it is the typical building with load bearing masonry walls; its total area, including the different floors, is 4180 square meters. The works include repairing the earthquake damages and implementing seismic improvements to the structure that, due to its peculiar planimetric and altimetrical irregularity, turned out to be vulnerable and therefore abundantly damaged by the earthquake. The works have been partially funded with the 2012 earthquake rebuilding funds. Our intervention aims at improving the resistance and the ductility of the structural earthquake-resistant elements, increasing structural regularity and floor static consolidation. Moreover, the works have been integrated into a wider redevelopment project of the whole building.
