The World Green Build Council publishes its manifesto for sustainable constructionAs members of GBC Italia, we report the publication of a manifesto in over 20 countries of the European Network (WorldGBC Europe) of the World GBC, including GBC Italia: A Sustainable Built Environment at the Heart of Europe’s Future, which urges European decision makers to recognize the vital role that the building sector plays in achieving a zero-emission Europe. This is what the communication sent by GBC Italia says: Aside from emphasizing the role that the building sector can play in achieving European climate goals, the Manifesto defines which transformative actions in policies and regulations must be supported by European representatives to fully recognize the full potential of the sector. The Manifesto focuses on 8 key action areas (including CO2 emissions, circular economy, water, health, resilience, biodiversity, cost and just transition) and outlines the Level(s) scheme as a key tool for evaluating the actions and changes needed. Shortly, the Manifesto calls for policies that support the transformation of the building stock to zero-carbon emissions by 2050. It also provides an overview of the policies that are needed to support the transition to a circular building economy so that resource use is optimised and there is zero waste to landfill." These goals can only be achieved if the awareness of all operators and stakeholders progressively grows and if everyone's knowledge and technical solutions are increasingly shared, within a united and aware community.
