The hydraulic project related to the "Compensatory Works" of the Municipality of Pesaro concerned the works related to the extension to the third lane of the A14 motorway. In particular, Ingegneri Riuniti advised on the executive design of the hydraulic platform and the resolution of the hydrographic interference of five interventions. The sections of roads are called "Bretella di Adduzione Ovest", "Bretella di Santa Veneranda", "Potenziamento Interquartieri", "Potenziamento Urbinate" "Roundabout Borgo Santa Maria".

The hydrological-hydraulic study aimed at sizing the different components of the drainage system of the road platform, started from the estimation of the drained flows to reach the hydraulic dimensioning of the different collection elements, conveyance and delivery.

In accordance with what was prescribed by the Authorities during the approval phase, different return times were used in the sizing according to the considered element and design solutions that made the new works hydraulically and environmentally sustainable. Reference was made to D.G.R. Marche n. 53/2014 for the definition of the maximum discharge rates in the final receivers and to ensure the hydraulic invariance of the transformations.

The executive design of the hydrographic interference resolutions for the five interventions related to the extension to the third lane of the A14 Motorway concerned the hydraulic study for the verification or the dimensioning of the buildings crossing the waterways interfered. In particular, the aim was to analyze the interactions between the road works and the water courses concerned and assess the adequacy of the crossing buildings, existing and planned, in compliance with the security francs compared to the different works of art in the project.

The study, carried out by examining the regulations and planning tools in force in the area of interest, on a national, regional and basin scale relevant to hydrological issues-hydraulic, included the hydrological analyses carried out on the watercourses of interest to determine the flow rates to the full ridge to be used in the next phase of hydraulic modeling. The hydraulic modelling, carried out with the software HEC-RAS, has carried to the definition of the water levels and the present speeds in the watercourses. The hydrodynamic and morphological phenomena induced by the interaction of the crossing works, existing and planned, with the riverbeds, were also analysed, with particular attention to erosive phenomena, defining the types and dimensions of corrective actions that may be necessary.
