In Bomporto the transportation and assembly works on the new bridge on the Panaro River are concluded; the bridge will replace the old one, damaged by the earthquake, on the provincial road that connects Bomporto to Ravarino.
The works started on July, 19th, at 7.00am and were concluded in the late afternoon.
The new bridge has a metallic structure with a total weight of 500 tons and a length of 80 m (262,5 ft), while the two arches are approximately 12 m (40 ft) high. The bridge was assembled during the last months in the yard area, on a land adjoining the River Panaro.
The transportation of the bridge structure from the yard area to its final site, performed by Fagioli, a firm from Parma, was possible thanks to a sophisticated system with mobile carriages and hydraulic jacks. It is the first time that this kind of system is implemented on a watercourse in the province of Modena.
The new bridge on the River Panaro, built by AeC, a building firm from Mirandola, on behalf of the Province, costed more than four million Euros and was funded by the Regional Civil Protection System and built according to the regulations issued after the earthquake.
Ingegneri Riuniti supervised the editing of the improvement technical integrations during the tender procedure, contributing therefore to allow AeC to win it.
The improvement integrations are connected to the following points:
- Lighting of the new bridge and the connected adduction ramifications
- Mitigation system to reduce the impacts of the work-site
- Bridge external restraint systems.
