The project area is located in Villanova di Modena, between Via di Villanova and Via O. Cremaschi, adjacent to the Trottola Kindergarten and the C. Menotti Primary School.

The lot, which has a rectangular shape and no surveyed, is currently used for agricultural cultivation. The assignment of the professional assignment for the drafting of the project of technical and economic feasibility and final-executive architectural, structural and plant engineering has been conferred by determines managerial n. 1338/2018 of 17/07/2018.

ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT

The project involves the construction of a nursery school composed of three sections for a total of 75 pupils, to complete the existing school complex. It will be placed approximately in the center of the area of its relevance, including within its own equipped garden.

This location will be designed to create a small common square with other school facilities, a place protected and interchange between students and parents.

The architectural approach given to the building comes from a shared path between educators, auxiliary staff, parents and the Public Administration, in order to define the architectural structure "ideal".

From these meetings emerged some keywords that guided the design of the project. In particular, it emerged that the new structure should have:

- Flexible and adaptable spaces;

- plenty of natural light, and with openings at child height;

- open to the park, where nature "enters" the school;

- With outdoor spaces for recreational and educational activities (pergolas and theatre);

- Equipped garden.

The project incorporates these indications and provides for a building body composed of four twin pavilions placed at the four corners of an ideal square linked together by a large connective space common to all sections-laboratory.

The articulation of the architectural volumes denounce the functions that will take place inside: the space "central square", whose volume stands out from the others, dedicated to collective activities and interaction between the sections, the intermediate height volumes in which the entrances and exits have been placed to emphasize the passage between inside and outside, the workshops with variable section, which open towards the park to emphasize the link with nature.

These differently articulated spaces and contemporary language aim to stimulate and support the activities that will take place in them, creating a varied, complex, flexible, innovative architectural landscape, capable of encouraging the growth processes of young students.

Three of these pavilions constitute the actual sections, including dedicated toilets and utility room; the fourth pavilion, on the other hand, contains the premises useful for the operation of the kindergarten.

THERMAL PLANT

In order to achieve the best situation of comfort as mentioned in the introduction and the best benefit in terms of energy efficiency, it was decided to use a system in reversible heat pump (both for heating and cooling) air/water type with a condensing boiler, essential to meet the most extreme needs due to low winter temperatures.

The heating system consists of terminals with sunken radiant panels made with flat insulating panel with high insulating and mechanical performance. The heating system designed is able to offer high performance with a screed of reduced thickness.

The cooling system consists of terminals type Fan coils installed in the false ceiling of common areas while in classrooms and in rooms with sloping ceiling has been designed a system consisting of ductable fan units, with diffusers for air supply and recovery of linear type completely integrated in the false ceiling made of wooden slats for acoustic purposes.

AIR TREATMENT PLANT

The entire building is served by a primary air system made with cross-flow heat recovery systems installed in the false ceilings, useful to ensure the correct supply of primary air in the rooms in accordance with UNI 10339.

LIGHTING SYSTEM

The whole structure will be equipped with LED lamps and lighting fixtures of various nature: recessed spotlights, pendant lamps, etc. dimmed in order to modulate its intensity according to the presence of people and the external lighting conditions. All aimed at obtaining the best energy savings.

SEWERAGE

The rainwater sewerage project includes the collection of water from the roofs, the external areas and the drains of air conditioners.

It is also planned to build a rainwater recovery system, including a tank that needs a capacity of 9 cubic meters for irrigation of the areas outside the building, a feed pump and a filtration system placed in a well upstream of the tank.

The nursery school in question consists of three sections and will be used for 75 pupils, corresponding to about 10 equivalent inhabitants. A waste water line is planned that collects the sewage discharges from the sewage (toilet) treated by the septic tanks and gray water from washbasins, bidets in the bathrooms, sinks and dishwashers in the kitchens.

EXTERNAL ACCOMMODATION

The planned parking on the North front is protected by a row of pyrus calleryana chanticlair (figure 1) and Corylus colurna (figure 2), the garden area is equipped with tilia cordata greenspire (figure 3), quercus ilex (figure 4) and fraxinus (figure 5)Finally, the parking lot on the southern front is protected by a row of maple (figure 6).

The position of the trees in the flower beds in the parking lots is also studied in function of the position of the lighting fixtures in order to avoid shady areas and obtain a strong uniformity of lighting of parking lots and pedestrian paths.

The planned trees will be fed by an irrigation system connected to the rainwater recovery tank with drip systems, one for each plant. The main ridge consists of a pipe is in PEAD DN110.

The parking lot to the north and the pedestrian leading to the entrance of the building will be illuminated with light points so as to ensure even at night greater security to users of the works in the project.

Given the type of areas to be illuminated and the required illuminance values have been provided lighting of various nature depending on the need but still with LED technology:

• reach on 8.00 m above ground poles to illuminate the parking lot

• reach on 4.50 m above ground poles for cycling paths

Two car parks are planned, one on the North front and the continuation of existing parking on the South front.

The parking on the North front is spread over an area of 1200 square meters, for a total of 35 ordinary parking spaces, 1 for the disabled and another 2 dedicated to mopeds.

The parking on the South front is spread over an area of 100 square meters, for a total of 9.

From the car park you can easily access the pedestrian paths leading to the park, as required by current legislation, relating to the removal of architectural barriers. The technical layout of the park is described in E-00-U-P-04.

The pavement of the parking and the pedestrian paths will be made of asphalt surrounded by concrete or granite curbs with an exhibition of 10-12 cm.
