Project hypothesis sketch
The boundaries of the historic center of Modena, the visibility for all passengers of the train station of the city and the redevelopment of an area abandoned for over twenty years: These are the premises behind the design of the multi-storey car park that is the first piece of the urbanization of a sector that finally takes shape.
The conclusion of the Urban Planning Agreement between Esselunga Spa and the Municipality of Modena for the "Esselunga - Ex Agricultural Consortium" sector allows today to redevelop and restore a central area for the city of Modena, thanks to the implementation of the Urban Implementation Plan of private initiative designed by Engineers Meeting and approved in 2020.
Floor plan Urban plan Implementation
The building used for parking is a work of urbanization and will satisfy the considerable need for parking due to the proximity of the train station and the historic center.
The building consists of 3 buildings with regular and distinct geometries: the volume defined by the actual parking floors, the core that structures the vertical pedestrian circulation system, with staircase and lift, and the semicircular driveway. Overall, the building consists of 4 floors above ground and five floors to park, including coverage, for a total of 305 cars, in addition to those for bicycles and motorcycles.

Sketch for the study of prospects
The building will have a prefabricated structure, the main facades will be covered with prefabricated panels characterized by vertical grooves with variable pitch obtained through the use of "formwork" matrices. These panels will then be painted with light beige uniform acromia and enriched with green, yellow and red colored bands in non-repetitive sequence. These infills will be interrupted on the facade by vertical cuts at full height in which the insertion of square mesh metal nets is planned to support the growth of climbing plants, from the base of the building.
The main pedestrian entrance will be protected by a red metal canopy, which will extend over the entire staircase/lift block, which, in addition to protecting the entrance itself, will merge the facade of this architectural volume.
The corner of the building overlooking the park and the main road network, which is also the most visible point for those arriving by train to Modena station, will host the large letters PARK that constitute and characterize the parking sign.
