Engineers Meeting was recently engaged in the elaboration of an executive project related to the work of Demolition and Reconstruction of the existing Theatre and the Gymnasium of the School Complex "Scuole Medie Carducci"concerning the building damaged as a result of the seismic events that affected the Municipality of Modena on 20 and 29 May 2012. The project was developed in compliance with DECREE 11 October 2017 "Minimum environmental criteria for the award of design services and works for the new construction, renovation and maintenance of public buildings" and is today under consideration of the Conference of Services, to acquire all the necessary authorizations.
The entire school complex "Carducci", the result of the project of 1975 by the architect Giuseppe Campos Venuti and the architect Maria Rosa Morello, is located in the District 3 (Good Shepherd - Sant'Agnese and San Damaso) of the Municipality of Modena, and is home to the Comprehensive Institute 5.
The project, in addition to intervening to give new solidity to the buildings, pursues the theme of architectural recomposition and image that you want to return to the community of Modena, the result of a "radical" intervention which is however in contiguity with a building complex strongly characterized by its architectural value.
The new gym is in the category of type a) Competitive Sports Facilities where you can play official (competitive) activities of the FSN and DSA, as well as being homologated to the category B Gold for the game of basketball Fip and FIBA. The gym will also be used for sports related to the school and can be divided into two volleyball courts.
The project of the Theatre starts from the same considerations made for the gym: equipping the school with a new architectural structure that meets both the operational needs and the current regulations of merit, realizing a structure that enters to full merit in the circuit of the main city theaters.
Since the restructuring and adaptation of the existing building, in addition to heavily influencing the design, would have burdened with inadequate costs without the optimal achievement of the objectives set, the design choices have been oriented towards the demolition of the existing buildings and their replacement with new buildings, fully responding to the operational, technical and performance needs desired, with architectural features in continuity with the school itself; the material-constructive and formal solutions of the external facades, in fact, refer, in the points of "attack" with the school, to the existing facades, differentiating and being characterized by language, materials and volumes in the remaining parts.
