The Section called "Ex Area Stoccaggio Gas A.M.C.M. - Via Salvo D'Acquisto" is located east of the historic center of Modena, at the intersection of Via Giovanni Falcone, Via Piersanti Mattarella and Via Salvo d'Acquisto and is defined by the card of Zona Elementare n. 11 Area 11. The lot object of the intervention involves the construction of two buildings, A- Artemisia and B - Hawthorn, and is located in the south - east end of the Compartment overlooking Via Piersanti Mattarella.
The architectural design of the buildings, aimed at ensuring maximum comfort to residents, is characterized by the articulation of volumes and plans aimed at being identified as vertical elements to which "strong" horizontal lines overlap.
This alternation is given by the "masses" of the actual building, to which are placed the horizontal lines of the terraces. The volumes have been treated in parts with homogeneous but diversified colors, in order to slender the building and lead it back to an aggregation of several vertical elements with different heights, ensuring in each housing wide views towards the Modena hill, environmental and landscape element of great quality.
On the other hand, the large terraces, with their pronounced sides, will be painted in a single colour and will blend like horizontal bands with semi-transparent glass parts alternated.
Other elements characterizing the entire composition are given by the volumes constituted by the service rooms present on the terraces of each accommodation, which unified through the use of a single coating material, contribute to enrich the "vertical parts" of the facades.
With the same aim of "crushing" the horizontality of the building, the insertion of a strong wall that "cuts" the entire building in a transverse direction, going up on the facade to the roof, wrapping the building and joining the opposite facades.
The roof is of flat roof type with cornices to protect the terraces below and being parts of those horizontal elements described above, able to contribute to the shading and therefore to the control of internal temperatures
The main materials and finishes are indicative:
- Masonry: plaster coat with three colors: light dove, medium and dark gray;
- terraces: light plaster (ivory white) and semi-transparent glass;
- Gutters: flashing and pluvial in painted sheet metal in accordance with the colour of the underlying masonry;
- Fixtures: light wood;
- Blackout: aluminium shutters painted in the colours of the walls;
- Cladding Service rooms on balconies: ventilated façade with Equitone-type panels (fibre cement) in colour in accordance with the colours of the walls.
- Cover: double clear sheath, to reduce the "heat island" effect.
The buildings, also thanks to a careful mix of mechanical and electrical systems governed by home automation "smart", will follow in addition to the regional legislation planned for the containment of energy consumption, Casaclima criteria, ensuring the achievement of the Regional Energy Class A4.
